Are we sticking to sries and films that are science fiction based?
Do you receive the British sci-fi series Dr Who?
There hasn't been too many decent sci-fi series or movies released recently, GALAXY QUEST (a la MS. Weaver) is probably the best of a bad bunch.
SOLARIS ( George Clooney) was absolute MR2, the CORE was very average and I am unable (due to not having a satalite dish or cable) to watch the new updates verion of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.
One movie I never get fed up watching is BLADE RUNNER, which is amazing.
But some of these movies may have diffierent titles in France. I think I read that THE HORSE WHISPERER was called (translated) THE MAN WHO SPEAKS SOFTLY INTO HORSES EARS?

Surprised about not hearing/seeing Lexx.
It was made about 10 years ago, lasted 4 series, by Canada, UK & Germany.
Started brilliantly but probably went a season or two too far.
Still, kept me amused, but no real prizesm theer!!

not a Sci-Fi one but certainly the serie I prefer ( with Diana Rigg) : The Avengers. ( but I never seen one with cathy Gale :faint3: and the period with Linda Thornston was good but...:merlot:...she's not the :ok14: "M" Appeal,the very first "name" of Emma Peal in fact!)
Diana Rigg's charecter should actually be M Appeal as you stated, (M for Man), but in the 60's this was thought to be too racy for the then adult population and the rest is history.

Have never seen "Arthur and the MiniMoys", but did see DB in "The Prestige" as Teslar, a wierd and wonderful scientist with an almost Scottish accent.

Sin City director Robert Rodriguez is to make a new film version of cult sci-fi classic Barbarella.
The original film, based on Frenchman Jean-Claude Forest's comic book, starred Jane Fonda as the titular mercenary and intergalactic sex-kitten.
"The possibilities are limitless," said Rodriguez. "I love this iconic character and all that she represents."
Original producer Dino De Laurentiis is in charge of the remake, which is due to be released by Universal next year.
"Barbarella is the ultimate science-fiction adventure heroine - smart, strong and sexy," De Laurentiis said in a statement.
"In our vision, the future is female, and I can't wait to introduce Barbarella to a new generation of moviegoers."
Rodriguez is in Cannes with Quentin Tarantino to promote Grindhouse
Casino Royale screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are working on the script.
The original film was a box office flop but has since achieved cult status, constantly referred to in pop culture.
It was directed by Fonda's then-husband Roger Vadim and became infamous for the opening scene, where Fonda undresses in zero gravity.
Kylie Minogue recreated the iconic sequence in the video for her 1994 single Put Yourself In My Place.
Pop group Duran Duran also named themselves after a character in the film.
Comic reissue
Barbarella first appeared in a French graphic magazine written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest in 1962, and her adventures have been published around the world.
De Laurentiis has secured the rights to the cartoon creation from Jean-Claude's son Julien.
The deal will also see the first two Barbarella books be reissued, along with the publication of material previously unreleased in English.
Robert Rodriguez recently collaborated with Quentin Tarantino on the horror movie double-bill Grindhouse.
After disappointing returns at the US box office, the directors will see their movie split in two for the UK.

This is one of my favourite movies, it is just excellent.
When she stabs the policeman in the hand with the pencil, I had to go and change my underwear once I had pealed myself off the ceiling!! Luc is an absolute jem of a director, also loved

"Minority Report" starring Tom Cruise made me think of BR, but I believe it was written by the same author.
The film with Rutger am]nd Michelle was called (in English) Ladyhawkand he was a good guy, and I think a very young Matthew Brodrick was in it too.
RH played a very good part as Martinin a medi-evil film called Flesh and Bloodalong with the lovely jennifer jason leigh.

Have to be honest, but I haven't seen the 3 Matrix movies.
The 1st was cool, but IMHO I find Mr Reaves a bit on the wooden side when acting skills are displayed.
The Simpson's version looks good though.

Of the frnchise, probably the least of the 3 films, although the "Last Crusade" with Srean Connery was very good.
I am really looking forward to the 4th installment, out in the near future.

Calista is a radio based political journalist, her dad runs a family business, but dies leaving cripling debts and the family, led by Sally Field, give up their successful carreers to try and save the company and the employees jobs.
Dad had spent the pension fund!
So, you won't need a girdle to save your sides, but a box of kleenex for the tears!

Being a sci fi lover, I have seen 2001, and Barry Lyndon is a film I should have seen but haven't. I have a list of these movies and surprise myself that I have yet to see them.
To be honest, I probably will never see the Shining, it is probably one of those movies that should have been viewed around the time of it's release, and may well look dated now.
All in all, Kubrick was a master of his craft, as was the late Ingmar Bergman, as stated by you.
He was maybe a victim of his own success, but he certainly knew how to get the best out of his cast, without the need for CGI.

Une charge d'entraîneur des accidents laids et de chacun de personnes à bord des matrices, et va au ciel.
Dieu les rencontre aux portes du peter de rue et décide de donner à chacun un souhait.
Le premier approche et demande à un dieu de les rendre belles, que Dieu leur permet alors l'entrée au ciel.
La seconde, tiers et en avant la personne toute souhaitent la même chose, être belle.
Dieu regarde en bas de la ligne et voit la personne qui est dernière dans la file d'attente, qui rit très fort. Dieu pense que c'est étrange, mais continue accorder les souhaits.
La personne de cinquième, sixième et septième demandent encore à être belle, et Dieu accorde ce souhait.
Dieu note que la même dernière personne est maintenant courbée vers le haut avec le rire et tient ses côtés pendant qu'il fait ceci.
Par la suite on accorde tous les souhaits jusqu'à ce que Dieu soit face à face avec la personne qui est dernière, et rie incontrôlablement à ce jour.
Dieu demande à la dernière personne ce qu'est son souhait, auquel la personne répond - "rendez-les tout laids encore!"
